We 21st century humans sure take a lot for granted. We have access to so much. I wonder what Susan B. Anthony would have thought of this laptop that I’m typing on. Or of my car in which I drove across the entire country alone. Or about the airplane trip I have coming up. Or about the pants I’m wearing. Or about the fact that I do not own a bicycle. (She’d certainly be relieved that I have the right to vote in 2019.)
It’s intriguing to view Now through the eyes of Way Back Then. And not just with a mind on inventions and social progress but with a mind on what she noticed…
What gives me a feeling of freedom and self-reliance? What sights cause me to rejoice? What has emancipated me in some way?
