“I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor. … To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and critical hour.”
– Henry David Thoreau, Walden
This quote from Thoreau challenges me to redefine “mundane.” How can I savor the tiniest of actions, thoughts, experiences? This is my choice.
The various experiences of each and every day happen as they will. But I choose how to react to each one. I aspire to make each reaction worthy of the life I strive to lead. I often fail, but more and more, I often succeed as well. To that, I say huzzah!
And you?
